Mechanical design services company

AAA Design is a mechanical design services company ready to design and detail your products for manufacturing. Every manufacturer wants their products made cheaper, better and faster and the designer has a big impact of the ultimate cost of manufacturing beyond what is actually charged for the engineering drawing package.

OSHA Compliant safety ladders, handrails, stair towersOSHA PLATFORM AND LADDER

We are a mechanical design services company that is conversant with designing stairs, access ladders and platforms. In a plant or workplace, those stairs have to be OHSA compliant because of workplace health and safety regulations. OHSA provide detailed specifications for the construction of handrails, kickplates and stair construction so that these items are safe and prevent injury in the workplace.

Structural steel detailing

structural steel supportWorking on dozens of baghouses has meant that I have detailed a lot of structural steel support supports. These have been created in accordance with both Canadian and  American Institute of steel construction guidelines.

Heat Exchanger drafting and Detailingfintubeassembly

Heat exchanger drafting - If you manufacture or design shell and tube or plate exchangers, we can help with the production of your shop drawings. We have automated models which can create engineering drawings for tubesheets, header boxes and inlet and outlet headers.

Oil Burner

RIELLO BURNER

Working with incinerators have given AAA Drafting a lot of exposure to oil burners with respect to how to plumb them, and insulate them. Not to mention adapting them to working with multiple types of fuels.

Dust Collector mechanical design services company

DUST COLLECTOR BAGHOUSE CASING

Dust collector design involves matching the type of dust to proper air/cloth ratios and choosing the appropiate type of collector. We have design experience with cartridge style and baghouse dust collectors.

Ducting

DUCT LAYOUT

Building a balanced duct system is extremely important for all the elements in a dust collection system to work properly. Particularly when you are working with explosive and flammable dust which must be conveyed in a safe manner. Ventilation projects are extremely important in Canada and the USA. Tough labour, health and safety laws and regulations enforce a safe working environment. Proper exhaust for welding, grinding and dust creating operations is critical to avoid problems. AAA Drafting works to ACGIH and OHSA specifications in designing ductwork, fans, baghouses and dust collectors to remove hazardous dusts and noxious fumes.

Duct Accessories

Dust collector accessories include things like custom made slide gates, special firttings such as pantleg wyes or even custom velocity cones for use inside the baghouse

Air Pollution Baghouse

BAGHOUSE TUBESHEET SPOOL

Large industrial baghouses need to be thought out carefully. Its is often necessary to split baghouses into multiple parts to make the project easier to ship.

Segmented Elbow

segmented elbow 30 inch 1.5 radius

Segmented or gored elbows are used commonly in large diamter ducting systems. If you have one that needs replacement due to wear and tear we can provide shop drawings foer the replacement.

DPF filter dust collection

A recent development is the push to use diesel particulate filters (DPF’s) on all large diesel trucks and as well as in diesel mining equipment. DPF’s have to be regularly cleaned and this cleaning involves blowing out the toxic diesel soot using a specialized cleaning machine. These machines use traditional cartridge and baghouse collectors to manage the high volume of dust.

In these machines purpose built disposal bins are essential due to the toxic nature of the dust, and a good cleaning regimen is doubly important for the same reason.

Industrial collectors for conveyor hoods and shakers  and for discrete pickup points like grinding and sanding machines

Incineration of Waste

Incineration of waste has to be performed in an environmentally sensitive manner and that means designing incinerators that are purpose built for the type of waste to be burned. This means creating secondary chambers that fully burn all the combustion gases as well as monitoring equipment that verifies the combustion process is complete with the absolute minimum of exhaust by products being released to the atmosphere

Wood shop collectors

In a wood shop application fan noise is a big factor. Especially when the workplace has to be shared with the collector. A room full of miter saws, planers, shapers and sanding machines produce an enormous amount of dust. That requires a very big noisy fan. A noisy fan requires sound deadening panels or an enclosure to maintain a comfortable working environment

Cyclones are typically used on wood shop dust environments but a sizeable one is very loud. Traditional bag or cartridge filter style collectors have separate fans that can also be very noisy. Not every woodshop has a separate room that can be dedicated to just the fan. As well putting a sound deadening enclosure around a large cyclone or cartridge collector can be very as expensive as building a separate room

Wood shop collectors also have to be easy to empty. A collector that is built to accept standard 26 liter plastic garbage bins is ideal since dust handling is minimized. Traditional cartridge collectors and baghouses often use only a discharge flange that often does not have a close fitting bin underneath resulting in spills that require extra work to clean up.

Another problem is the importance of a regular cleaning schedule so that the collector does not get absolutely full of dust. In some cases a collector has to be disassembled to get all the accumulated dust out resulting in expensive downtime
