There are great resources on the internet for finding a drafting career. If you are interested in getting into a drafting career there a number of routes open to you. One simple route is to sign up for a course at your local community college to learn the basics of drafting and get experience in the different kinds of software. Most community colleges will offer various drafting related classes and will offer great assistance in starting a CAD career.

The other way to enter the field is to find a local drafting shop who will provide you with a drafting job and train you at the same time. This is a little more difficult as you would to better off to have some exposure to CAD programs to make you more attractive for a drafting job. But opportunities still exist. You need to be a little bit of a "self-salesman" to find these drafting jobs effectively.

To be a "self-salesman" to enhance your CAD carreer you have to do research on the companies you are trying to apply to. Learn about the software they use, read trade journal and view trade websites to get a feel for their products and services. Make yourself knowledgeable so that when you write a resume or cover letter for your new CAD career prospect, you sound like you know about the industry. If an employer feels like you are genuinely interested in their business, they will be more apt to offer you a CAD career.
